This stage crosses Marmande, a town known for its tomatoes grown in the Garonne valley, before passing a string of small bastide villages typical of the Lot-et-Garonne, founded in the Middle Ages on a characteristic geometric town plan.

Damazan, one of these well-preserved bastides, is worth a stop for its central arcaded square, a layout common to many southwestern bastides built in the 13th and 14th centuries.

Arriving in Agen, the prune capital, marks the entry into the fruit- and wine-growing Lot-et-Garonne, with a notable crossing of the canal on the Agen canal bridge, one of the longest in France.
