Špindlerův Mlýn, the main resort of the Czech Krkonoše, offers direct lift access in summer to a network of mountain singletrack descending the slopes of the country’s oldest national park.
An area served by lifts
From Špindlerův Mlýn, the lifts give access to a network of trails descending toward the valley through the conifer forests typical of the Krkonoše. Expect around 20 km of cumulative descending on a typical day, with 450 m of residual climbing, most of the elevation being handled by the lifts. The terrain alternates rolling forest tracks with more technical mountain singletrack toward Vrchlabí.
Getting the ride right
A hardtail suits most of the terrain. Krkonoše National Park enforces strict rules on riding off the marked trails to protect its high-mountain ecosystems, which should be scrupulously respected.
When to go
June to September, the season the lifts dedicated to summer activities are open. Summer offers the best weather conditions, with dense forest providing shade on hot days.
Good to know
Špindlerův Mlýn, a well-equipped mountain resort, offers a wide choice of accommodation, with convenient access to Harrachov for extending the MTB stay to other parts of the Krkonoše.
