Superbagnères, above Bagnères-de-Luchon, is one of the Pyrenees’ historic climbs, famous for the 1986 Hinault-LeMond duel and for its exceptional panorama from the resort perched at 1,800 m.

Getting the ride right
The steady gradient over most of the route allows for a sustained pace, provided you keep something in reserve for the steeper sections near the end. A compact or triple chainset is recommended to handle these final kilometres comfortably.
When to go
May to October, as the road stays rideable over a wide window but conditions can deteriorate early or late in the season at altitude. The descent back to Luchon, long and sometimes cool, is worth packing a warm layer for even on a fine day down in the valley.
