The stage continues along the canal towpath, still perfectly flat, with an unmissable detour through Josselin: its medieval castle standing on the banks of the Oust, with turrets reflected in the water, is one of the finest views of the whole Breton crossing.
Past Josselin, the canal gradually joins the Vilaine river, which it follows all the way to Redon. The scenery opens up slightly, alternating between bocage farmland and wetlands.
Redon, at the confluence of the Vilaine and the canal, is a logical overnight stop before the final kilometres to Nantes.
